揮斥 (literary)

1. to chide; to berate; to reprove
2. to give orders (to); to be in command

     As to our present-day priests and sorcerers, many of them are little different from the loafers and ruffians of the marketplaces. How can we therefore expect them to command the thunder or to call forth wind and rain?

揮斥
