ਪੀਤਾ

Punjabi

Etymology

Possibly from Sanskrit पी॒त (pītá, past passive participle of the root पा), though this is unlikely as in Prakrit this would become [script needed] (pia), with lenition of the intervocalic t. By surface analysis, ਪੀ () +‎ *-ਤਾ (*-tā), with the second part from Sanskrit -त (-ta).
