єднати

Ukrainian

Etymology

Probably inherited from Old Ruthenian еднати (ednati, to reconcile, to ask for, to appease) with the later semantic shift to "to unite", ultimately from Old Polish jednać. By surface analysis, (dialectal) єден (jeden) +‎ -а́ти (-áty).
