Etymology 2
Inherited from Proto-Slavic *ǫgrъ. Outside Slavic, cognate with Lithuanian ankštiras. It is not known whether the two senses of the word are cognate. Folk etymology suggests that a blackhead, when squeezed out, resembles an eel in its elongated form, hence the origin of the second sense.
