Proto-Turkic *kel- (to come). Cognate with Kazakh келу (kelu), Kyrgyz келүү (kelüü), Crimean Tatar kelmek, Kumyk гелмек (gelmek), Azerbaijani gəlmək, Turkish gelmek, Uzbek kelmoq, Khakas килерге (kilerge), Shor келерге, Yakut кэл (kel), Western Yugur kel-, etc.

  2. (auxiliary) Forms the venitive after a converb in -п (-p).
    учуп келериučup keleriarrival by air (literally, “coming flying”)
  3. When in the third person singular preterite келди (keldi), expresses the appearance of someone’s disire, forms the desiderative. Placed after aorist in -ар (-ar) + any posessed form of кӱӱн (küün, wish).
    Чай ичер кӱӱним келди.
    Čay ičer küünim keldi.
    I’d like to have some tea.
