Inherited from Middle Mongol ᠪᠣᠯᠬᠤ (bolqu, “to become”), ultimately from Proto-Turkic *bōl-. Cognate with Kalmyk болх (bolx); Khamnigan Mongol болоху (boloxu), болху (bolxu), Mongolian болох (bolox).
