Zed Lapis sector

Zed Lapis sector was a spatial region that was located somewhere in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. This sector was home to the planet Vagra II and the Zed Lapis Sector Spaceport. (TNG: "Skin Of Evil"; TNG-R: "Inheritance")

In 2364, the USS Enterprise-D was traveling through the Zed Lapis sector to rendezvous with Lieutenant Ben Prieto and Counselor Deanna Troi who were aboard shuttlecraft 13 returning from a conference. The shuttle began experiencing an on-board systems failure and crashed on Vagra II. (TNG: "Skin Of Evil")

The name of the sector was only heard in dialogue, and the word "zed" had at least once been used in dialogue to talk about the letter Z in a designation, in the Surplus Depot Z15. However, the mention of the Zed Lapis Sector Spaceport in an Okudagram in "Inheritance" suggested that in this case, Zed did not stand for the letter Z.
At one point in the script, Vagra was said to be in the Zed Lapis system (the sector was also named elsewhere in the script). "System" was changed in "sector" for the filmed episode.
