Wise County

Wise County was a county in the state of Texas. Its county seat was Decatur. The etymology of the 20th century craps slang-phrase "Eighter from Decatur, County Seat of Wise," meaning that the player needed to roll an eight on the die, originated in reference to this county.

In 2365, the novel Hotel Royale character Texas, encountered by the crew of the USS Enterprise-D, referred to Wise County in the above phrase while he and Vanessa played the craps table. (TNG: "The Royale")
