William McCarter (born ca. 1895) was an actor who appeared as a Columbia survivor in the first pilot for Star Trek: The Original Series, "The Cage", and subsequently in archive footage that appeared in "The Menagerie, Part I".

McCarter's known career in motion pictures began when he was in his fifties. A vast majority of his appearances were in Westerns, where he generally appeared as one of the townfolk.
