A whalebone was a very tall glass used for drinking a "yard" of a beverage.

In 2381, Dolorex, Katrot, and Cathiw brought Angel I-branded whalebones, with suitably long drinking straws, to the USS Cerritos. (LD: "Empathological Fallacies")
