A water wheel was a bladed wheel that captured the energy of flowing water for useful purposes.

While stranded on Dilmer III in 2382, Lieutenant jg D'Vana Tendi built a water wheel to produce hydroelectric power, with which she charged the batteries in the head of Data from an alternate universe. (LD: "Fully Dilated")
