Voyager fires a warp flare.

A "warp flare", so dubbed by Harry Kim, was a photon torpedo reconfigured by Lieutenant Commander Tuvok to emit a sustained polyluminous burst. He used this method in 2375 to illuminate several Night Alien ships in the starless region known as the Void. (VOY: "Night")
