Void (psychology)

A void was an empty space in one's life that could be filled by something or someone.

In the holoprogram Janeway Lambda One, Lord Burleigh felt that though she couldn't replace their mother, Lucille Davenport might fill a void in their lives. (VOY: "Cathexis")
