VHF (very high frequency) was a range of radio waves.

In 2259 of the alternate reality, Montgomery Scott suggested that a closed network like that used by swarm drones might be susceptible to very high frequency. James T. Kirk then opined that they could broadcast something from the USS Franklin to confuse the drones. Scott then suggested Jaylah's favorite music be used, after which the alien "reconfigure(d) the VHF output into a multiphasic sweep". Nyota Uhura warned that the signal wouldn't travel very far, meaning the Franklin would have to get close to the swarm. (Star Trek Beyond)
