USS Fredrickson

The USS Fredrickson (NCC-42111) was a 24th century Federation Excelsior-class starship operated by Starfleet.

In 2371, the Fredrickson was docked at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in orbit of Mars. (VOY: "Relativity")

The ship became a member of the Second Fleet, which was deployed in the early battles of the Dominion War. In 2374, the Fredrickson was heavily damaged and needed to be towed away from a battle zone. (DS9: "A Time to Stand")

Background information

Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 285 stated that this ship "was named for Anthony Fredrickson, a scenic artist on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

This studio model of the ship was featured in the Inside Starfleet Archives feature of the TNG Season 2 DVD release. It was represented by the relabeled USS Excelsior (NCC-2000) studio model, built for its debut appearance in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Flashback", and was the penultimate time this physical model was used before its final (newly) use in DS9: "Call to Arms". It was later rendered as a CGI version, making its appearance as Fredrickson in Voyager's "Relativity" episode after its debut in DS9: "Favor the Bold".
