Trebus

Trebus was an inhabited planet near the Federation-Cardassian border, in what became the Demilitarized Zone. (VOY: "Tattoo"; PRO: "Observer's Paradox")

History

It was the site of an ex-Federation colony populated by the descendants of the Ometepe Rubber Tree and Nicarao peoples of Earth, who moved to this world a few centuries before the 24th century. (VOY: "Tattoo"; PRO: "Observer's Paradox")

Chakotay was born on Trebus in 2329, at which time the planet had been settled for several generations. As of 2384, he was the only resident of the colony in Starfleet. (PRO: "Observer's Paradox")

Kolopak died defending the colony from the Cardassians. (VOY: "Tattoo")

Background information

The naming of Chakotay's homeworld as Trebus was first given in the novel Pathways, before being confirmed on screen in "Observer's Paradox". Some other novels have identified Chakotay's homeworld as being Dorvan V.

The planet might have featured forests and deer, as Chakotay mentioned refusing to hunt them with his father in "Waking Moments".
