A Trayken beast was a ferocious animal.

After Kathryn Janeway claimed she felt "fine" despite the USS Voyager again losing the ability to communicate with Starfleet in 2374, Chakotay remarked that she would say that even if she had just had her legs torn off by a Trayken beast. (VOY: "Hunters")
