Tractor rig

A tractor rig was a type of unmanned spacecraft used by Federation starships to give a boost to the tractor beam. The beam emitted from a starship would connect to a rig, instead of to the target. They were about the size of worker bees.

In 2257, the Section 31 ship deployed three of these rigs when giving an assist to the USS Discovery, which was partially submerged into the mycelial network. They were placed at equidistance to each other along the starboard side of the Discovery. When the spore drive of the Discovery was engaged, these rigs were left on the hull and subsequently destroyed. (DIS: "Saints of Imperfection")
