Time bomb

A time bomb was a type of bomb set to go off at a specific time.

Metaphorically, it could also refer to a disaster waiting to happen. In 2371, Kathryn Janeway referred to Makull's homeworld's usage of unstable polaric ion energy to power their homes as a time bomb. (VOY: "Time and Again")
