The Physiology of Taste was a work of Earth literature.

In 2368, a copy of this book was in the quarters of Lieutenant Commander Data on board the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "A Matter Of Time")

Data still kept a copy of the book in his quarters as of 2369. (TNG: "Birthright, Part I")

This book was published in December 1825, two months before its author Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin died.
