His credits include The Golden Girls, Star Trek: Enterprise, Futurama (where he wrote the Nebula Award nominated Star Trek homage "Where No Fan Has Gone Before"), and Family Guy, where he was head writer for six years.

Background information
- Goodman has noted that part of the narrative was inspired by a 2012 interview with TrekMovie.com, in which he was reminded that Jean-Luc Picard was the first Picard to leave the solar system (as noted in Star Trek Nemesis.) [1]
- The final section of the book incorporates elements of the anti-time future from "All Good Things..." and the comic Star Trek: Countdown.
