Telescopic camera
Telescopic cameras mounted on the hull of USS Discovery.
A telescopic camera was a sensor device which gathered visual information on objects.
Telescopic cameras formed part of the sensor suite of the USS Discovery, and were designed to assist in hull repairs by imaging the ship's exterior. They could also be used to capture visual data on objects outside of the ship, as was the case in 2257, when they were used to take images of an interstellar asteroid and locate the wreckage of the USS Hiawatha.
