A Tavnian wedding was a marriage ceremony among Tavnians.

In the ceremony, the groom told the bride why he wished to marry her, then spoke of his love and convinced her to agree. Any who doubted his sincerity could challenge whether the wedding was real or not.

In 2372, a pregnant Lwaxana Troi, wishing to escape marriage to Jeyal, worried that her substitute groom, Odo, might not be able to convince the Tavnian his intentions were genuine. She had wished to marry him in order to be able to keep her son, who would be considered his father's property and raised among men otherwise. (DS9: "The Muse")
