Superimposing
Superimposing was the act of overlaying one image over another for purposes of comparison.
In 2367, Beverly Crusher instructed USS Enterprise-D's ship's computer to superimpose an image of the starship's interior over a later image, both of the same scale, and to continue to monitor the increasing difference between the two. (TNG: "Remember Me")
In 2370, Doctor Julian Bashir ordered his infirmary computer to superimpose an image of Elim Garak's leukocyte's molecular structure from that day over one from yesterday. Upon studying the images, he determined that the leukocyte's structure had been altered, causing toxins to accumulate in his system. (DS9: "The Wire")
In 2373, Benjamin Sisko ordered his computer to superimpose an image, then reverse it. (DS9: "Rapture")
