Summary dismissal

A summary dismissal was the formal rejection of a court case by the court before it can be tried.

In 2367, Jean-Luc Picard moved that "Ardra"'s case against the Ventaxians be summarily dismissed, as she had failed to prove her influence on their lives, and therefore, her case. Data, as the judge, rejected the motion. (TNG: "Devil's Due")
