Starbase 718

Starbase 718, abbreviated as SB718, was a Federation starbase administered by Starfleet. The starbase was located in the Beta Quadrant.

History

In 2364, Captain Jean-Luc Picard was summoned to an emergency conference at this starbase. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")

Stellar cartography

In 2401, this starbase's position was labeled on a star chart used by Captain William T. Riker during his attempt at finding the last known location of the SS Eleos XII. (PIC: "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

The location of this starbase was seen on the bridge of the SS Eleos XII on what appeared to be an updated chart from Star Trek: Star Charts. Dave Blass published pictures of the set on his website.
In the Star Trek Encyclopedia, 3rd ed., p. 466, it was stated that after "The Neutral Zone" had aired, where Starbase 718 was mentioned in dialogue, it was decided that the starbase numbers shouldn't go much higher than 500.
