Stabilizer beams were a type of tractor beam used by ships to maintain flight in an enclosed space like a cavern.

When the USS Discovery used their spore drive to jump directly into an underground cavern on Qo'noS in 2257, Keyla Detmer used the ship's stabilizer beams to compensate for the planet's gravitational pull and level the ship. (DIS: "Will You Take My Hand?")
