A spinning top was a toy that, when spun, rotated for several seconds on an axis.

In 2269 on the planet Megas-Tu of a parallel universe, the Megan satyr Lucien conjured a young satyr boy who had a spinning top. (TAS: "The Magicks of Megas-Tu")

When Odo questioned Taya in 2370, she was playing with a spinning top. Later, before he left, he morphed into one for her. (DS9: "Shadowplay")
