A social activity was an activity that people would do together for enjoyment or to build relationships.

In 2366, Jean-Luc Picard told Haftel that Lal was under the strict guidance of a woman in whom he had absolute trust, and Ten Forward was the centre of the ship's social activity. (TNG: "The Offspring")
