Slip of the tongue

A slip of the tongue was an error in speaking in which one said something unintentionally. The error might reveal one's true feelings on a subject, or have an opposite/ridiculous meaning.

In 2371, when Kira asked Odo about what the Female Changeling said, Odo replied that it was a slip of the tongue and nothing important. (DS9: "Heart of Stone")
