Sideman

A sideman was a musician who played alongside another in a band.

In 2364, while departing the USS Enterprise-D to begin a new life in the 24th century, L.Q. Clemonds told Data he'd be "a hell of a sideman." Data confessed he was fascinated by the offer. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")
