Short-term memory
Short-term memory was the ability to hold a small amount of information in the brain for a brief period of time, usually up to thirty seconds.
On the Bridge, Data informed Captain Jean-Luc Picard that, "We proceeded to erase all evidence of our encounter with the Paxans. I reset the computer's chronometer and the crew was again stunned into unconsciousness, their short-term memories erased. When they were revived a day later, the computer adjustments made it appear that only thirty seconds had passed." (TNG: "Clues")
