A sensor-blinding burst was a device designed to burn out the sensors of an opposing spacecraft. It was carried aboard Federation starships in the 32nd century.

In 3190, Captain Michael Burnham ordered the USS Discovery to launch a full spread of sensor-blinding bursts set to maximum energy yield at Booker's ship, hoping to disable its scanners to prevent Cleveland Booker and Doctor Ruon Tarka from finding and destroying the DMA controller. However, the volley only sufficed to diminish Booker's scanner function to 40%. (DIS: "Rubicon")
