Sector Z-6

Sector Z-6 was a spatial region in Galaxy Quadrant YX-12-114, which was a minor quadrant in the Beta Quadrant. This sector encompassed Federation space and Romulan space. The Federation-Romulan border ran through this sector. On the Federation side of the border, there were several outpost stations. (TOS: "Balance of Terror")

In 2266, the Neutral Zone Incursion occurred in this sector. (TOS: "Balance of Terror", display graphic)

In 2366, a Starfleet tactical intelligence analysis depicted an area within the sector. (TNG: "The Defector")

In 2387, the Romulan side of this sector was impacted by the Romulan supernova, which devastated the Romulus system and nearby systems. (PIC: "Disengage")

Background information

This sector was only mentioned in writing.

This sector's quadrant of origin was inferred based on the location of the Nelvana system, in the vicinity of outposts 3 to 5, as seen in the star charts appearing in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Defector" and in the Star Trek: Picard episode "Maps and Legends".

Although it was not displayed on the sector map, Outpost 8 was destroyed by the Romulan Bird-of-Prey, too, and might possibly have been located within Sector Z-6 as well.

In the Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 66), this sector was in the Romulan War Theater of Operations (2156-60).
