Scientific diplomat

A scientific diplomat was a term suggested by Guinan that was used to describe Doctor Beverly Crusher, who had assembled a team of subspace technology experts in 2369 to listen to Dr. Reyga's theory of metaphasic shields.

Initially optimistic, Crusher later described her first experience in this role as having been "a complete failure". (TNG: "Suspicions")
