Sawyer Markham

Ensign Sawyer Markham was a character from scenes 76-77 of the final draft of the script for the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Encounter at Farpoint".

He is first seen with Geordi La Forge in the Farpoint Station lounge. A recent Starfleet Academy graduate with an excellent academic record, Sawyer was described as a likeable and capable young man who was enthusiastic and energetic. He tended to shoot from the hip, rather then consider his words, when speaking. He was assigned to the USS Enterprise-D.
