Rubber
Rubber was a type of stretchy material made from a secretion of the rubber tree. It was used to make rubber bands. Natural rubber was a dark color.
Because of its non-conductive properties, it was used for the soles of shoes worn by researchers experimenting with electricity. In 2365 while playing Sherlock Holmes Program 3A, Data, as Holmes, noted that a set of footprints left behind bore dark markings from these kinds of soles. (TNG: "Elementary, Dear Data")
Some of the tubes in the Borg suits were made of black rubber. (LD: "Reflections")
In the children's Holographic program series featuring the character Flotter, one of the programs featured Flotter investigating whether his friend Trevis was a rubber tree. (VOY: "Once Upon a Time")
The USS Cerritos had a "rubber ducky room," which was off limits. (LD: "First First Contact")
