Richard Bronskill
Richard Bronskill is an orchestrator and composer for film and television. He was one of composer Michael Giacchino's orchestrators on Star Trek, working with principal orchestrator Tim Simonec. He previously worked with both Giacchino and Simonec on the 2008 film Speed Racer.
Bronskill holds Musicae Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Music) and Master of Music degrees in Composition from the University of Toronto. He began orchestrating and composing films in the 1980s. The first film he orchestrated was The Dead (1987, featuring Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine actor Colm Meaney and Star Trek: Voyager guest star Bairbre Dowling).
Bronskill was later an orchestrator on such films as All Dogs Go to Heaven (featuring the voice of Victor Tayback), Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time (starring James Avery, Michael Berryman, and Lawrence Dobkin), True Lies (1994, starring Jamie Lee Curtis), In the Army Now (1994, starring Andy Dick and Lori Petty), Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace (1996, featuring Matt Frewer, Kevin Conway and Richard Fancy), Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2006, featuring the voices of Tara Strong, Michael Bell and Susan Sarandon), Rugrats Go Wild (2003, featuring the voices of Tara Strong, Michael Bell, Tony Jay and Ethan Phillips), and Pokémon The Movie 2000 (1999) and Pokémon 3: The Movie (2000).
Bronskill has orchestrated a number of made-for-TV movies, as well, including Onassis: The Richest Man in the World (featuring Anthony Zerbe), Miss Rose White (1992, starring Amanda Plummer, directed by Joseph Sargent), No Greater Love (1996, starring Chris Sarandon and Daniel Hugh Kelly), and DC 9/11: Time of Crisis (starring Gregory Itzin, Stephen Macht, Penny Johnson, Lawrence Pressman, Scott Alan Smith and George Takei).
In addition, Bronskill orchestrated several TV mini-series, notably 1989's Around the World in 80 Days and Lucky Chances (1990, starring Phil Morris and Jimmie F. Skaggs). He also composed additional music for Batman: The Animated Series, which led to work as an orchestrator on the animated feature film, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
Bronskill's other orchestration credits have included Elektra (2005, with Jason Isaacs), The Deal (2005, starring Christian Slater), and Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005, featuring Jeremy Roberts, Jimmi Simpson and Amy Hill), Failure to Launch (2005, with Kathy Bates), Zoom (2006), and Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny (2006). He also orchestrated P2 (2007, starring Rachel Nichols).
Outside of his work as an orchestrator, Bronskill has composed the music for such films as Friend of the Family, Exception to the Rule (starring Kim Cattrall), and National Lampoon's Golf Punks (1998). He has also been an "auricle operator" on such films as Batman & Robin, Good Will Hunting (1997, starring Robin Williams and Matt Damon), Analyze This (1999), Spy Kids (2001), The Princess Diaries, Panic Room (2002), The Scorpion King (2002, starring The Rock), Sideways (2004, starring Virginia Madsen), Team America: World Police (2002), and Nacho Libre.
