A Retroovian flask was an elaborate container that could hold a gelatinous spray capable of rapidly expanding and trapping a person in solid gel. Such an entrapped person could be freed by a phaser blast.

In 2381, Ensign D'Vana Tendi found a Retroovian flask during anomaly consolidation duty on the USS Cerritos. She accidentally spilled the contents of the flask on Ensign Beckett Mariner, who was briefly plastered against the ceiling by the gel. (LD: "The Spy Humongous")
