(written from a production point of view)
Renaissance Books was a Los Angeles-based publisher specializing in books on film, television, popular culture, self-help, and spirituality that in 1998 published the first edition of The Encyclopedia Shatnerica.
The company originated in 1987 as audiobooks publisher Audio Renaissance. In addition to its audiobooks, it began publishing print books in the 1990s under the Renaissance Books brand. Holtzbrinck Publishers acquired the company in 2001. [1] (In 2007, Holtzbrinck rebranded its United States operations as "Macmillan Publishers" at which time it changed the name of the audiobooks division to "Macmillan Audio.") [2]
