Mentioned in a deleted scene from the Star Trek: Enterprise third season episode "E²", a refresher course was a course of study that re-familiarized somebody with a topic they had already learned. After Enterprise NX-01 re-emerged following its being thrown back in time to 2037, Doctor Phlox stated his intentions to give the current physician aboard the starship a refresher course in viral propagation following an outbreak of Neubilean fever.
