Redaction was the act of blacking out or making unavailable portions of files due to the classified nature of them.

In 2257 of the mirror universe, Michael Burnham noted that a file regarding the USS Defiant's presence in the mirror universe was redacted. (DIS: "Vaulting Ambition")
