Recitation
A recitation was the act of repeating something from one's memory, especially formally or publicly.
According to Katherine Pulaski, Humans learned from their failures, whereas Data learned by rote; his learning process involved memorization and recitation. Geordi La Forge had chided Data for "solving" a Sherlock Holmes mystery by memorizing the story and skipping to the resolution. (TNG: "Elementary, Dear Data")
