Ray Shaffer was one of the Proteus Make-up FX Team's lab technicians on Star Trek.

Shaffer was also a hair technician on DreamWorks' Tropic Thunder (2008), working with Aida Caefer. Shaffer and Caefer also worked together on Star Trek.

Shaffer also did uncredited work as a lab technician on I Am Legend (2007, with Salli Elise Richardson and Paradox Pollack). Shaffer later worked with Quantum Creation FX on Watchmen (2009, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and featuring Matt Frewer).
