The Pyrithian swamp gobbler was a predatory animal with scythe-like forelimbs. It inhabited swamps and was dangerous to humanoids.

A pair of Pyrithian swamp gobblers were kept in Narj's Miraculous Menagerarium, where they were the main money-making attractions. In 2381, they were devoured by a moopsy released by two Humans who had been accidentally put on display in the menagerie. The animals evinced an instinctive fear of the moopsy before they were attacked. (LD: "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee")
