Program Vinci 7

Program Vinci 7 was a computer program developed by Lieutenant Spock in 2257 that allowed the USS Enterprise to track enemy Gorn vessels inside the atmosphere of a brown dwarf. It functioned by processing readings of gaseous rotational motions, caused by Coriolis forces, that were constantly collected by the ship's navcom in order to maintain stability; when these motions originated from atmospheric oscillations created by the passage of another ship, the program could then triangulate that ship's movement. Captain Christopher Pike likened it to "turn[ing] a compass into a radar". (SNW: "Memento Mori")
