Prime daughter

A prime daughter, or simply prime, was a high-ranking title among powerful Orion Syndicate families, usually held by the eldest daughter of the warrior queen. They were trained from birth to be highly skilled assassins, and were entrusted with the most important tasks. Primes held significant power in Orion society and were treated with deference and fear.

D'Vana Tendi was once the prime daughter of the Tendi family, in which capacity she was styled as the "Mistress of the Winter Constellations" and expected to be the "Tip of the Moonlit Blade". When she left the Syndicate to join Starfleet in the 2370s, her younger sister D'Erika trained to take her place, though their parents still thought of D'Vana as the prime. In 2381, D'Erika, worried about being compared unfavorably as a prime to D'Vana after her impending marriage, arranged for her own kidnapping to force a confrontation with her sister.
