Power transfer field

The power transfer field was an integral part of Federation starships like the USS Enterprise-D.

In 2366, when the Enterprise-D was under attack by a Romulan warbird, the ship took minor damage in the secondary hull and the power transfer fields were pinched off. (TNG: "The Defector")
