Portable pattern buffer

A portable pattern buffer was a small pattern buffer that could be easily carried around and used to store objects.

In 3191, Moll used a portable pattern buffer to contain L'ak's body, effectively keeping the corpse in stasis until she could find the Progenitors' technology to resurrect him. This kept L'ak's body from deteriorating in the meantime and allowed Moll to carry it with her into the portal discovered near two primordial black holes. (DIS: "Lagrange Point")

Moll released L'ak's body once on the other side, but Captain Michael Burnham returned it to the pattern buffer before they were beamed to a shuttle outside of the portal after learning that the technology could not be used for resurrection. (DIS: "Life, Itself")
