Piecework factory

A piecework factory was a factory where employees were paid for each item worked on, rather than receiving an hourly wage.

In 2268, James T. Kirk claimed the Iotians were running Sigma Iotia II like a piecework factory, and declared that the Federation would take over and merge everything. (TOS: "A Piece of the Action")
